Tumultonomics - (update 3) Zenith Men's 96.0529.4035/51.M Defy Xtreme Tourbillon Titanium Chronograph Watch

I think Amazon is a great company, yes they have been trumped by Apple with the Ipad (Amazon's Kindle just doesn't cut the mustard against the Ipad), still they are a powerhouse distributor that has a solid business structure and service.

But as the global ecomomy is now looking at another financial crisis (and it aint looking good) some things just catch your eye and you go "What the Fuck?" Amazon have an outsourced watch distribution, where companies/ shops use the Amazon carrier to sell their products. Great concept and works well, but this watch caught my eye (sold through Amazon).

Zenith are high end watches (loverly watches too I might add), that sit in the price range of $5,000.00 to $10,000.00 which essentially are correct prices for a high end watch with a splash of price deflation (i.e recession). Except the above baby will set you back a cool $87,709.99 (however reduced from $145,000.00)!

The absurdity is not so much the watch it's self, it's the expectation that someone would order this online at that price. Alas the reviews of non buyers which is testament to that absurdity.

Click here to follow some of customer reviews, very funny with nice amounts of sardonic humour, good stuff! : Amazon 'Zenith' review/s

sardonic example...funny:

"The Zenith Men's Defy Xtreme Tourbillon Titanium Chronograph Watch or Z.M.D.X.T.B.T.C.M. as I like to call it, is by far the most awesome watch. Chuck Norris riding into the Super Bowl on the back of Godzilla and round house kicking the crowd is no where near as awesome as this priceless poon magnet. When I was just moments from sending my $100k to some needy neo-hippie help group, I stumbled onto this gem. It was like the heavens opened and Jesus himself appeared with this same watch on. I mean how can you not follow Jesus when he's rocking a watch of this caliber. So I asked "What would Jesus do?" Jesus pimp smacked me and said "Forget those hippies, buy the watch!" I was like "HECK YEAH." I busted out my Discover card and bought this rocking piece of art. I mean its art but its also practical too. Like when I take my summer trips to the Marianas Trench, I have no more worries that I am going to miss Tea Time back on the yacht, because water ruined my watch again. It can withstand the immense pressures of the deep due to the wicked awesome titanium. Deep seas, cant beat this. Bullets cant beat this. Heck, I can deflect cruise missiles and the apocalypse. With a watch like this you don't need to tell time, you tell people what time it is"

Tumultonomics - (update 1) Australian goverment bans/then unbans Aliens v's Predator release for 2010. On the premise of economic pressures

You know I made a call on a gaming forum about the Australian government banning the soon to be released Alien's V's Predator game. My post indicted that the Australian government would lift the ban on the game due to the fact it's desperately trying to keep the Australian retail sector alive...and at all costs. So censorship on certain items would be lifted if demand is there and of course demand is there for PC/PS3/Xbox games. I mean if you read the decision (a copy of decision no longer exists), it was all but a done deal by the prudes at the office of classification; but as mentioned in a tumultuous economic time (hence Tumultonomics) sales would have shifted offshore namely to Amazon or CD universe, obviously this would have effected the local sales.

As of 18 December 2009 the ban was overturned.

Do I get a free game for making that call? No, but being a closet nerd (as opposed another sort of 'closet' type person) it just saves me, although Amazon and CD universe are excellent mail order services, ordering online - although I still might. So I am looking forward to getting this game.

Australian Office of Classification press releases.

Tumultonomics - Heavy Metal is seeing the 'end' (haven't they always?); but they maybe close this time.

Ok, my recessionomics blog posts where meant to be a look at the absurd in a recession. So it's a kinda (and I mean kinda...) humorous dissection of recession and consumption.

The blog posts ended on this post Recessionomics - update 6. The end of 'Recessionomics' blog posts, price deflation on LCD's and economic collapse, why? Well lets say that we are now entering a new phase of a economic proplems with all it's absurdity and bizarreness attached. A new phase of upheaval. Yes, goverments are starting to suck each other dicks at this point as they created feeder funds for the banks, stimulus to keep the voters happy and generally have created the biggest budget holes in fiscal history, with the taxpayer being conned and fleeced. Oh yeah but GDP seems to be rising. It's massaging numbers, goverment statisticians and officials are nervously saying the worst is behind us. But turmoil leads to a change and change didn't really come as the 'turmoil' was abated by goverment sponsored 'band aids', so by natural default the coming turmoil is going to force some big changes. While the status quo mentally via academia and self interested governing bodies maintains; it will be contradiction, hypocrisy and a shocking reality that the whole fucking thing is going to unhinge...bigtime.

No I am not a doomsday nut, but jeez can you really rationalize the irrational at this point? It's hard to do.

So begins Tumultonomics (yeah I know it's a made up word...), two words combined as one tumultuous and economics (with some alterations by letter subtraction, tumultuous being an adjective) .

Ok, so we are all heading for a tumultuous time in the next 5 years. People aren't stupid everyone knows how damaged it all got and it's barely been held together. So when a feeling creeps through it touches everything. Metal or heavy metal or black metal (and/or all the other connotations) have always used apocalyptic scenarios to sell records, why not? It's cool. But one band recently by the name of Immortal a Norwegian (black) metal band have released their new album title All Shall Fall; yes a generally bleak assessment of everything, but their promo card caught my attention, quote from band member Abbath:

"Humanity is going through big changes. I don’t know if we’ll see the end of the world, but it’s definitely the end of what used to be. Prepare for chaos with a grin on your face. But don’t be afraid. Just listen to IMMORTAL."

It's all about timing. I hope these guys sell millions of records

Recessionomics - update 6. The end of 'Recessionomics' blog posts, price deflation on LCD's and economic collapse.

With the global recession ending (on short term fiscal and monetary stimulus measures) and GDP being at the best of times dubious measure of economic output. Morbius glass Recessionomics may not have the same ring to it when previously we were all sitting in 'official' negative growth. So this blog post may be the last under 'recessionomics' (unless a 'double' dip happens, that being a W - more likely an M), although the next title maybe called tumult-onomics (as in tumultuous economics here after) at some point.

To celebrate the possible end of 'recessionomics' blog posts on morbius glass I feel it is fitting to explain the grossly hysterical observation of deflation (Keynesian); which unfortunately is so out of date that their (interventionist economics) deflation models overly exaggerates deflation pressures by adding technological deflation which is normal price deflation on newer technology replacing older technology. The miscalculation? Well just refer to the the amount of liquidity sloshing around (this can be seen in recent stock rallies) is very good indication of over use of monetary stimulus and/or 0% interest rates. So when they (governments and central banks) try and underpin prices, including those that will always fall (technology), they create the only scenario that is left; inflation based economic collapse (don't worry the Doom'ers are starting to get press now)

A good example is flat screen LCD's, (remember 6 years back when they were $7,000 to $10,000 for a plasma flat-screen!!!). The average new price is between $2,000 and $3,000, but once a new LCD hit's the market for that price it quickly drops.

refer to the price graph for a Sony Bravia KDL46XBR9 46" LCD HDTV :

So natural deflation occurs in the 21st century on the back of technology, in the old days say 1930's when it was old analogue phone , it held it's price better and deflation concerns were based on wage and general price deflation.

But we are gonna have a lot more price inflation just refer to the USD and oil charts (I'll post them later) thanks to a fuck up with deflation modeling.
